This eve, our final banquet of unity,
The ultimate rendezvous of shared affinity.
A suffering loop we’ve woven tight,
Threatening to shatter, you and I.
In yesteryear’s snapshots I perused,
Reliving tender moments we once used.
Each image, each memory meant to beguile,
Now summons tears, regret in every mile.
To release is a challenge, a formidable task,
Unhanding the grip, an agonizing ask.
Let our love tonight echo the prime,
Recall our zenith, bask in the sublime.
As we part ways from this life’s demise,
Sip the wine, entwine hands, no goodbyes.
Is it sinful to persist in this charade?
Our love won’t rekindle, in shadows it’ll fade.
Our paths diverge, no love to reclaim,
Each too stalwart in these chains of flame.
The tug of war, our purpose estranged,
From inception to finale, we’re rearranged.
